Reiki on the Hill

A gentle way to relieve stress, heal from past injuries and release emotional trauma.

What is Reiki

The word “Reiki” originated from the Japanese terms “rei,” which means “universal,” and “ki,” which means “life energy,” and “Reiki” means “mysterious atmosphere” or “miraculous sign.” Reiki is also referred to as palm or hands-on healing.

According to practitioners, energy can stall in the body with physical harm or even mental pain. These energy barriers can lead to sickness over time. Moreover, energy medicine tries to assist the flow of energy and remove impediments. Reiki practitioners think that increasing the flow of energy around the body can help people relax, heal faster, and have more minor symptoms of illness.

What is a Reiki session like?

Practitioners give Reiki treatment in a calm and secluded setting. However, the treatment can take place anywhere. The client will relax in a chair or lie on a table while fully clothed during the treatment.

The practitioner will lay their hands gently on or over particular areas of the client’s head, limbs, and body. They will keep their hands there for three to ten minutes. If there is an injury, the practitioner will hold their hands over the damage. Advocates affirm that energy transfer occurs while the practitioner has their hands lightly on or over the body. During the energy transfer, the practitioner will report that their hands feel warm or are tingling. This will continue until they sense that the energy has stopped circulating.

Reiki sessions can last from 45 to 90 minutes. The number of sessions will vary- some clients favor having one session, while others have a series of sessions to manage a particular concern.

The delicate nature of Reiki treatment has a soothing effect on patients who become overwhelmed with every day hecticness, fear, and stress. People who have had Reiki sessions report different experiences. Some state that the practitioner’s hands become hot, others say cooling hands, and some feel pulsating streams. The most frequent reports are of a release of stress and deep relaxation.

Benefits of Reiki: For Body, Mind and Spirit

Reiki channels energy known as ki. This energy penetrates the body. Reiki aids in relaxation, supports the body’s natural healing methods, and develops emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Some anecdotal evidence suggests that it induces deep relaxation, helps people cope with difficulties, relieves emotional stress, and improves overall wellness.

Conditions that people have undergone Reiki to help with include: heart disease, chronic pain, mysterious “wandering paid” without a known origin, cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, autism, Crohn’s disease, anxiety, depression, stress and fatigue.

However, it is crucial to note that Reiki should never take the place of medical procedures. It does not constitute medical advice. Reiki practitioners cannot claim to cure or treat any condition.
